1. Eliminate soil wet spots - fill with sand/soil mixture: use subsurface drainage if necessary. GRID alone will not solve drainage problems.

2. Prepare the area by power raking or cutting existing grass or by seeding or laying sod, plugs or sprigs. Be sure the turf or soil surface is as level as possible. GRID will conform to surface undulations. GRID works well on sloping turf areas.

3.
Assemble the GRID on a working area alongside the area to receive the green GRID. Slide a handle under the first GRID next to the holes where the points from the second GRID will connect. Snap the points into the holes using your hand or foot. Illustration of Grid

4.
Connect the GRIDS (no more than 10 grids), pick them up and lay them on the prepared surface. Be sure that the lower joint faces the direction of flow of traffic. Allow 1/2 inch of space between the GRID and any obstacle. Use pruning shears to cut the GRID where necessary. Protective eyewear must be worn to cut the GRID.

.
5.
Hand roll the GRID into the soil. Roll in the direction of assembly. Do not roll the leading edge if more GRID will be connected Rolling the Grid
6. After all the GRID is connected and rolled, hammer "locking GRID nails" through each pre-drilled cylinder. Use nails on the edge with the exposed holes. 40D or 60 D Galvanized Pole Barn nails 6-inch length are recommended. The GRID nail cylinders may need to be enlarged by drilling to accomodate 60D nails.Protective eyewear must be worn when nailing the GRID into place. Hand roll again if necessary.
  Nailing the GRID
7. Rope the area off. Wait at least two cuttings for the new grass or sod to become established before allowing traffic on the area. Water as needed to grow the turf.

8. Alongside an athletic playing field, the edge of the GRID nearest the field must be a minimum of 30 feet from the playing field and tightly nailed to the soil.

9. For frequent use vehicle GRID areas, be certain the soil subsurface will support the load. If necessary, remove some of the existing soil; (line the cavity with geotextile, using drain tile if needed); and fill with a suitable mixture of crushed rock, sand and gravel. Re-apply the top soil, compact the surface by rolling; install sod or seed and GRID per these instructions.

10.
Installation Completed Installation completed. Do not aerate area where GRID has been installed.
